Local Color
I live in a medium sized city that's essentially a suburb of Louisville, KY. It's large enough to have it's own police force, fire department, and public works department, yet small enough to have a few widely recognized local characters.
One of these is a fellow that I refer to as The Bike Guy1 (since I don't know his real name.)
The Bike Guy spends his days riding around the area (patrolling, in his words) and being helpful where he can - he's often spotted at the police station or at one of the fire houses chatting with whomever is on duty, and he's been known to help people with their groceries and such. He's quite frankly one of the friendliest and nicest guys you're likely to meet.
I ran into him at a church fish fry the other night, and he was showing off his new ride (yeah, it's a camera phone picture...):

The one thing he hasn't moved over from his old rig is the radio holster - he normally has a handheld police scanner mounted to the handlebars. I particularly like the chrome fender and the two-pronged kickstand.

1Actually, I think there are two Bike Guys, and I think they're twins, but they're rarely seen at the same time. I'm not sure what the whole story is there.
